Groom Kidnapped By His Attorney on the Big Day

A good piece of advice for anyone: pay your attorney because some lawyers aren't forgiving. An attorney in Waco, Texas was arrested this week after allegedly kidnapping a client on his wedding day to try to collect fees from him. The tale started in April when Waco resident Rolando Castelan hired attorney Paula Allen. After a series of bond hearings, put up by his attorney, Castelan allegedly didn't show up causing a warrant to be issued for his arrest. He refused to turn himself in and then things got...weird.

Though the groom made it through the December 10, 2005 wedding ceremony, by the time the reception came around he was gone. As it turned out, the family called the police and explained that three "associates" appeared at the wedding and went up to the groom telling him he was 'arrested' then handcuffed him and took him away where they then drove around for several hours. They were having the groom contact family members to get the money he owed his attorney, around $20,000 (Note to self, don't publicize wedding if you are wanted by police or owe lots of money.) He managed to escape when his ex-wife came to "drop off" the money and he managed to jump into her car and they sped off. The attorney is currently out on $1,000 bond. As for the blushing bride left behind, after a two-hour delay, the bride decided to go on with the reception and cut the cake and visited with guests. Ah, the show goes on for Cinderella.
