Ebay Wedding Dress Victim Out $2,400
Many brides shell out big bucks on Ebay looking for a deal of a lifetime (We like to spend our money on Ebay buying the bizarre foods that look like people.) Though most transactions go smoothly, there are those weasels in the grass preying on the bridezilla guinea pig. Blakely Smith just didn't get scammed, she got taunted! Smith had always dreamed of a Monique Lhuillier wedding gown, the latest in celebrity gowns, but didn't have enough money to pay $5000+ for one so she went to her neighborhood friendly Ebay for a good old fashioned deal. What she found was a good old fashioned snake oil salesman. After paying $2,400 for the gown outside of Ebay, she failed to receive her beloved dress. When she contacted the seller 'Kate' was less than sympathetic saying "sorry for that, it's nothing personal. ... It's what I do, and it pays well." The add insult to injury she told Smith that Ebay was like the food chain. "I was the predator, you were the prey." (We don't recall the food chain in nature including bear scamming money from a squirrel, but biology wasn't our strongest subject...)There are no leads yet on the scammer but she is suspected to be wearing a black and white stripped suit and a mask carrying a bag with a money sign on it. (Either that or a bear with a picnic basket.)
