Runaway Groom Sued By Bride
WARNING! All grooms with cold feet should think twice before they cancel the wedding the night before.
A man with the last name He and his girlfriend--whose last name was Che--had planned to wed in a lovely ceremony in Kuming of Yunnan Province in China. Things didn't end up going as planned when He got into a spat with the bride's family the night before the big wedding. Apparently, the argument was enough to scare He away and he was a no show at his own wedding. (We bet it was a Monopoly related argument. Damn you Parker Brothers!)
While some brides would grab a pint of Haagen Das and settle in for six months of depression and anger, Che's family decided instead to get even. The runaway groom was ordered to pay 'spiritual compensation' to the family of his would-be bride and the court ordered He to pay $7,500 for damaging the bride's reputation. Nothing like financial revenge to make a gal feel better, is there?
